A judge has sentenced a Fort Wayne man to the maximum 105 years in prison for hammer attacks on his parents that left his father dead and mother seriously injured. Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck on Monday sentenced 51-year-old Scott Ruse to 65 years for murder and 40 years for attempted murder for the July 5 attacks on Gene Ruse and Sandra Ruse, both 71. Gene Ruse died July 18 when he was taken off life support in a hospital.
A 32-year-old man was charged in the murder of his father and his father's girlfriend in Pulaski County in Northwest Indiana. Ross Stacy, 32, is accused of killing Loss Stacy, 59, and Mary Kurek, 56, of Gary, Indiana.

A man was pistol-whipped during a robbery Sunday morning near the Chicago and State CTA Red Line station in the Gold Coast neighborhood on the Near North Side. About 4:45 a.m., the 26-year-old was struck over the head with a pistol while being robbed by a group of five or six males in the first block of East Chicago, according to Chicago Police. The robbers then made off with his cellphone and gym bag.

Police Department were dispatched to 530 N. Tacoma Avenue on a call of a person shot. When officers arrived they met with Indianapolis EMS, who attempted lifesaving procedures, but the male succumbed to his injuries. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses.

A missing Westfield woman was found inside her car in a retention pond. Officers discovered the body of 73-year-old Nancy Gillett after pulling the vehicle from the water near the intersection of 146th Street and Carey Road shortly before 3 p.m.
Three children were transported to Riley Hospital after a crash on the east side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning. The crash, which involved a Dodge Charger and a van, occurred around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Cecil Avenue and East Washington Street
Evansville Police are investigating a fatal shooting on the city's west side. According to the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office, 20-year-old Nicolas Belcher has been identified as the person killed in the shooting. It happened around 10:30 Tuesday night in the 1300 block of Mesker Park Drive, near St. Joe Avenue.
A police standoff has entered its second day outside of a western Indiana home where a man suspected of shooting two people is holed up. The standoff began Monday after authorities say the man fled after fatally shooting a 29-year-old woman and seriously wounding another person inside of a home in Terre Haute, which is about 70 miles west of Indianapolis.
