The Allen County Coroner is calling a recent child death case a homicide. Police are investigating the death of a two-month-old baby on the southeast side of Fort Wayne, and arrested the baby's father. A judge has sentenced a Fort Wayne man to the maximum 105 years in prison for hammer attacks on his parents that left his father dead and mother seriously injured. Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck on Monday sentenced 51-year-old Scott Ruse to 65 years for murder and 40 years for attempted murder for the July 5 attacks on Gene Ruse and Sandra Ruse, both 71. Gene Ruse died July 18 when he was taken off life support in a hospital.

A man was pistol-whipped during a robbery Sunday morning near the Chicago and State CTA Red Line station in the Gold Coast neighborhood on the Near North Side. About 4:45 a.m., the 26-year-old was struck over the head with a pistol while being robbed by a group of five or six males in the first block of East Chicago, according to Chicago Police. The robbers then made off with his cellphone and gym bag.

Police Department were dispatched to 530 N. Tacoma Avenue on a call of a person shot. When officers arrived they met with Indianapolis EMS, who attempted lifesaving procedures, but the male succumbed to his injuries. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses.
